Han's Laser YoY sales up over $1 billion on AI-related orders

The Shenzhen equipment maker says orders grew in several business lines, from circuit-board machines to display lines. It expects nine-month profit to more than double.

Han's Laser (大族激光), a Shenzhen maker of laser and factory equipment, signed about RMB 24.3 billion (about US$3.6 billion) of new orders from January through September it said in an Oct. 16 profit forecast.

First on its list is equipment for printed circuit boards. Demand for high-end boards keeps growing "as AI servers, high-speed network switches and other computing infrastructure are deployed faster," the filing said. AI-related circuit-board equipment made up a larger share of revenue, and higher-value products such as high-precision drilling machines for high-density interconnect (HDI) boards sold strongly, it added. The company did not break down orders by business.

Circuit boards aren't the whole story for Han's. Consumer-electronics equipment orders kept growing as the company worked on new products with several unnamed overseas customers. Its battery-equipment sales rose with big customers' expansions and their factories abroad, and repeat orders for active-matrix OLED (AMOLED) display lines, along with recovering demand for advanced chip packaging, lifted its chip and display equipment business.

It expects net profit of RMB 2.12 billion to RMB 2.22 billion (about US$317 million to US$332 million) for the nine months, up 145.6% to 157.1%. A RMB 203 million fair-value loss on shares it holds in another listed company weighed on that figure.
