The battery group of Chinese car giant Geely could buy as much as 567,800 metric tons of cathode material from [Lopal Tech](https://www.lopal.cn/domain/15?ref=asia-tech-news.ghost.io), according to a recent filing.

Under a framework agreement signed Oct. 8, a unit of Lopal Tech (龙蟠科技), a Nanjing battery-materials maker, will sell 378,600 to 567,800 metric tons of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode material to [Energee](https://www.energee.geely.com/en?ref=asia-tech-news.ghost.io) (吉曜通行) from 2026 through 2030, [Lopal said in a filing](https://static.cninfo.com.cn/finalpage/2026-10-09/1225598099.PDF?ref=asia-tech-news.ghost.io). Energee, the battery group Geely formed in 2025 by folding its battery companies into one, is to supply batteries for vehicles across Geely's brands.

The tonnage is a plan, not an order book. Volumes depend on orders, and on Lopal's prices staying competitive and its deliveries, quality and technology meeting requirements. Prices are set each month and move with raw-material costs. If Energee buys less than the year's minimum, it pays Lopal for the gap, unless Lopal's quality or technology caused the shortfall.

The low end is more than double either of two big deals Lopal announced in 2025: 157,500 metric tons of LFP cathode from its Indonesian plant to CATL from mid-2026 through 2031, and 152,000 metric tons of battery materials to the Malaysian plant of EVE Energy, a Chinese battery maker, from 2026 through 2030.
